The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Technical Communication and Rhetoric, with a specialization in user experience design and digital rhetoric, to begin fall 2025.

Major/Essential Functions
In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.


Required Qualifications
  • PhD in English, Rhetoric and Writing Studies, Technical Communication, or a related field by time of hire;
  • At least 2 years of demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher at the college level.
  • A record of peer-reviewed publication that has contributed to the discipline and/or a research and publishing agenda.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Applicants who specialize in technical communication and rhetoric, with research and teaching interests that focus on user experience design, digital rhetoric, and complementary areas such as disability studies, social justice, grant writing, risk communication, and/or program administration; and
  • Applicants with administrative experience in program, department, college, university, and/or professional levels.
  • 2 years of online teaching experience.
  • A record of scholarship supported by funding as evidenced by internal and/or external grants.
